FSNA Votes for Consistent R1S Zoning Throughout the Neighborhood

The following is the motion that was made at the meeting [on March 13th] for the Zoning issue that was Made, Seconded, Discussed, and Unanimously approved:

The initial statement:
"Move to vote that Stribling, Crestmont, and Shamrock R2 zoning areas, as designated by the NDS map that we reviewed, to R1S zoning to further stabilize the neighborhood, increase owner occupation, better upkeep of the houses for our neighborhood to attract families.  Further support for the R1S zoning is to allow owner occupied apartments. 3 vs 4 unrelated residents is not as important as accessory apartments and 3 vs 4 unrelated residents is harder to enforce.  With regard to the point that other zoning would encourage affordable housing, apartment rates are market rate adjusted and residents try to fit extra people in, owners do not have proper upkeep, generate higher calls for city services, and encourage less families when compared to owner occupied.  We have been discussing this issue not only for the last several months but also since 1999."

The refined motion:
"To move the Stribling Area, the Cresmont Area, and the Shamrock Area from R2 to R1S."
