Old Lynchburg Road Update
City offices are closed today, but I wanted to let everyone know that Finley Asphalt, contractor, has made good progress. They will be continuing to install the storm pipe and related structures for the next two weeks. The work will extend from Middleton lane to 225 OLR, with good weather. One lane of two way traffic will remain open.

Letter Sent to Residents of Old Lynchburg Road re. Safety, Sidewalks and Drainage Project
Dear Property Owner / Resident,
The City of Charlottesville has begun construction of the Old Lynchburg Road Safety, Sidewalk and Drainage Project. This work includes new sidewalk, curbing and drainage upgrades, storm water quality bio-retention facility, and pedestrian safety features, from Jefferson Park Avenue to Middleton Lane. Construction of the sidewalk runs from Jefferson Park Avenue along the east side of the road opposite the Fry’s Spring Beach Club; once past the Beach Club, the new sidewalk will be constructed on the west side of the road on towards Middleton Lane.
The purpose of this letter is to inform motorist normally traveling through this area that during the week of February 11th through February 15 th Old Lynchburg Road will be closed from the north side of Middleton Lane to the intersection with Jefferson Park Avenue, weather permitting. Local neighborhood traffic will be allowed access to their properties with contractor’s assistance. Traffic commuting through the area is advised to take an alternate route.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this closure may cause and appreciate your cooperation with making these needed improvements.
If there are any questions, I can be reached at 970-3992. Thank you in advance for assisting us in moving forward with this project.
Sincerely,
Tony Edwards
City Engineer
