Welcome and Introductions
Invited Guests
- Lt. Mooney – Charlottesville Police Department evening shift supervisor for Fry’s Spring, Lt. Mooney will attend to introduce himself and answer questions.
Old Business
- Candidates Forum – Fry’s Spring Neighborhood Association will hold a joint City Council Candidate’s Forum with Johnson Village Neighborhood Association at Johnson Elementary on September 27th, 6 to 8 pm. Suggested topics for questions are welcome.
- Oktoberfest – This year’s Oktoberfest will be on Sunday, October 15th, 3 to 5 pm, at the Fry’s Spring Beach Club. Nominations for new board members and volunteers for delivering flyers are being sought!
New Business
- Sunset Ave. – Changes to on-street parking are pending.
Announcements
- CAT Route 4 will experience a shift in service frequencies. In early May, CAT held three public meetings to solicit feedback from passengers about proposed changes to Route 4. Based on the feedback received at these meetings and from comments received via phone, mail, and email, CAT's proposed Option 2 was selected. More information about these meetings and the proposed options can be found here. In summary, Route 4 will have an increase in service frequency during the morning and evening commutes while midday and late night service will have a reduction in frequency. The new service schedule can be found here.
- Jefferson Park Avenue Construction - Construction activity on Jefferson Park Avenue near Cabell Hall is scheduled to be being on Monday, July 10, continuing through mid-August. The work will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
- Parks and Rec Fall Program Registration opens on Monday, August 14th, 5:30 am: http://www.charlottesville.org/departments-and-services/departments-h-z/parks-recreation
- Back to School Bash – August 19th, Sprint Pavilion, 10:30 am – 12 pm.
- Sounds of Summer – The City of Charlottesville Parks and Rec Department will be holding a free concert at Azalea Park on Saturday, August 19th, 6 to 8 pm. Enjoy an evening of live music, food and fun for the whole family! The event is free and open to the public.
- Fry’s Spring Station Social – The neighborhood associations of Fry's Spring, Jefferson Park and Lewis Mountain are getting together to offer our neighbors a chance to hang out and get to know one another. The Station will offer food specials. There will be live entertainment following our happy hour. Come join us! Thursday, August 24th, 5:30 to 7:30 PM.
- Comprehensive Plan Update 2018 - Draft Chapters for Comments
On November 30, 2017, Council and the Planning Commission agreed that some chapters of the comp plan had received extensive work in 2013 and could move forward with an on-line review followed by community meetings. Staff has provided updates to each of the following chapters and would like to ask community groups and all members of the public to review and provide comment.
Three versions are provided for review:
- A draft showing updates on a clean document,
- The marked-up draft showing what changes are proposed,
- The adopted 2013 Comp Plan language.
These drafts will remain available on line through the end of Summer 2017. Comments will be posted biweekly so they may be reviewed by everyone. Updates will be made and available in Fall 2017 to additional feedback. Comments should be sent to: compplan2018@charlottesville.org
