Fontaine/Maury/JPA Water Line Replacement Update
Here is the schedule update for the Fontaine Waterline work. There have been some technical issues to resolve that have resulted in a slight delay to the work, but we are just about ready start.
Phase 1: (JPA Bridge/Maury)
Phase 2: (Fontaine from Westerly to Appletree)
We certainly appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we work to complete this difficult project as quickly as possible. I will continue to send updates to this distribution list as the project continues. Please let me know if you have been added to this email list by mistake or know of someone that should be added.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks

Phase 1: (JPA Bridge/Maury)
- 6/25/2012: The contractor will set up the traffic control for the night work to take place near the JPA bridge project.
- 6/26/2012: Beginning at 9 pm, the night work portion will begin adjacent to the JPA bridge project site. The night work will last approximately 2-3 weeks. During the night work, traffic on Fontaine will be detoured around Mimosa to Stadium Road and back down Shamrock to JPA, as needed. When the detour is active, local streets will remain accessible, but the intersection of JPA/Fontaine/Maury will be closed to through traffic. The intersection will be reopened by 6 am the following morning.
Phase 2: (Fontaine from Westerly to Appletree)
- 6/21/2012: The contractor will put up "NO PARKING" signs on Westerly near Fontaine and on Fontaine between Westerly and Summit. The parking restrictions will not begin until 6/25/2012 and will continue for the duration of the project, as needed.
- 6/25/2012: Work will begin on Phase 2. The contractor will begin digging test holes. Work in this area will be during the day from 9 am to 7 pm.

JPA Bridge Update
JPA Bridge Task Force (BTF) - Bridge construction is proceeding on schedule. JPA BTF, Hardy Whitten, and Michael Petrus met with Greg K. from VDOT and Jeannette J. from City NDS to discuss the current concern of the sloped sidewalk running from Todd Ave. up to JPA. The concern focuses around two 90 degree turns that the JPA BTF would like to see minimized or removed assuming ADA slope engineering requirements may be met. The JPA BTF recogized this concern prior to the beginning of construction and earth moving component of the sidewalk and stairwell component of the project. JPA BTF expects to hear back from VDOT prior to the June 13th FSNA monthly meeting and may update then.
