What To Do When You See Graffiti




Graffiti can be associated with gang activity, therefore it should be reported to the two detectives in the County and City that deal with this activity. They are:

  • City: Todd Lucas (lucast@charlottesville.org)
  • County: Jim Hope (hopej@albemarle.org)
The location of the graffiti determines who should be contacted to get it removed


  • Bridges, Signs, Right-of-wayCharlottesville Public Works Department Service Manager Steve Lawson (lawsons@charlottesville.org) 
  •  Graffiti on private property NDS – Patricia Carrington (carrington@charlottesville.org)
  • Bus stops and CAT property:  CAT - Lance Stewart (stewartl@charlottesville.org), transit@charlottesville.org, (970-3649)
  • Jefferson Park Avenue Bridge  construction zone:  VDOT Project Manager Jason Settle (Jason.Settle@vdot.virginia.gov)
  • Stribling railroad underpass:  Corporal Horace Bruce (bruceh@acrj.org)
